The Institute of Education Sciences (IES) hosted the Fourth Annual IES Research Conference Sunday, June 7 through Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC. The conference is the broadest assemblage of grant and contract recipients conducting education research funded by IES and the Department of Education.

More than 850 researchers from around the country attended the 2008 conference. Attendees participated in 26 panel and open forum sessions, viewed more than 340 poster presentations, and enjoyed many opportunities for dialogue and collaboration.

This year, approximately 1,000 researchers and policy makers registered to attend the 2009 Research Conference. This three-day meeting featureed plenary presentations by Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, and Cecilia E. Rouse, Member of the President's Council of Economic Advisers. Attendees will choose from 21 panels and open forums on timely topics, and view and discuss nearly 500 posters detailing IES-funded research from across the country.
