The Institute of Education Sciences will host its Fifth Annual IES Research Conference at the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. The theme for this year's conference is Connecting Research, Policy and Practice.

Day 1: Monday, June 28, 2010
The conference will begin with on-site registration and check-in from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and will include afternoon meetings conducted by IES program officers. A welcome reception and the first poster session scheduled for the conference will follow these meetings. Conference attendees will be able to view all poster presentations, which will feature the research of predoctoral fellows, postdoctoral fellows, grant and contract awardees, and expert data users.
Day 2: Tuesday, June 29, 2010
The second day of the conference will begin with on-site registration, check-in, and an opening plenary session. Concurrent panel sessions featuring presentations by IES grantees and contractors, as well as other invited speakers, will follow these events. A plated lunch with a plenary speaker will follow the morning sessions. The afternoon agenda will continue with the second poster session, followed by concurrent panel sessions, and will conclude with the third and final poster session scheduled for the conference. In addition to the scheduled poster sessions, attendees will be able to view all poster presentations featuring the research of predoctoral fellows, postdoctoral fellows, grant and contract awardees, and expert data users from 9:00 a.m.-6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
Day 3: Wednesday, June 30, 2010
The final day of the conference will open with concurrent panel sessions, followed by another round of concurrent panel sessions. The conference will adjourn at 1:00 p.m. Posters will be available for viewing from 9:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Air Transportation
Three airports serve the Washington, DC, area: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI). DCA is a 15-minute drive from the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center and is the most conveniently located of the three.

Metrorail
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) Metrorail system is a convenient way to travel within and around the DC area. Metrobus
The Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center is connected to the DC metro area by the WMATA Metrobus system via the National Harbor Line.
