Title: A Longitudinal Study of the Effects of a Pre-Kindergarten Mathematics Curriculum on Low-Income Children's Mathematical Knowledge
Center: NCER Year: 2002
Principal Investigator: Starkey, Prentice Awardee: University of California, Berkeley
Program: Preschool Curriculum Evaluation Research      [Program Details]
Award Period: 4 years Award Amount: $2,607,653
Type: Efficacy and Replication Award Number: R305J020026
Description:

Purpose: In this project, the researchers in this project evaluated the short-term and long-term effects of the prekindergarten mathematics curriculum on low-income children in California and New York. In a complementary study, the investigators were to evaluate the sensitivity of several mathematically focused assessment instruments to changes in preschool children's mathematical thinking.
