This project will examine the extent to which Oregon's early childhood data provide information on the school readiness indicators recommended by the National School Readiness Indicators Initiative and child outcomes mandated by the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP). This study will a) compare the content between Oregon's Benchmarks or indicators used to measure state progress toward developing safe and caring communities with recommended school readiness indicators, b) inventory and catalog existing early childhood data collected by four key state agencies, and c) determine the extent to which early childhood data cover the content of recommended school readiness indicators. The report will help early childhood policymakers and practitioners examine the capacity of their state early childhood databases to track recommended school readiness indicators and OSEP child outcomes.
