Metro Nashville Public Schools Data Use Alliance

The Metro Nashville Public Schools Data Use Research Alliance involves district administrators, school staff, researchers and technical assistance providers in implementing effective data use practices and tools designed to improve instruction and student outcomes in middle schools. The goal of the alliance is to promote a collaborative inquiry process among middle school data teams that builds the capacity of school staff to make data-informed decisions.

Workshop: Building the capacity of data and instructional coaches in facilitating the collaborative inquiry process with school data teams

Community of Practice: Sharing lessons learned and best practices in implementing collaborative inquiry.

Technical Assistance: Building the capacity of district staff in conducting an evaluation of collaborative inquiry.

Work-In-Progress: Development of a Survey of Data Use Among Middle School Staff Who Provide Literacy Instruction in Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools

Research Questions:

  • What knowledge, skills, and tools do teachers, data and instructional coaches, and administrators need to implement a collaborative inquiry approach to data use?
  • What are best practices for implementing a collaborative inquiry approach to data use with middle school data teams?
  • How does implementing a collaborative inquiry approach to data use influence instruction and student outcomes?
