Regional Needs

To ascertain the needs of the Central Region, REL Central employed a four-pronged approach: collecting statistics about the region and its needs, conducting in-depth interviews with chief state school officers and other SEA staff in each Central state, holding meetings with key stakeholder groups, and using information from the Assessment of Regional Needs: Reports from Ten Regional Educational Laboratories and Statistical Data. Based on an analysis and aggregation of information from these four sources, REL Central proposes three primary focus areas for its work: 1) closing the achievement gap, 2) enhancing educator effectiveness, and 3) fostering postsecondary and workforce readiness. These three critical areas of need form a unifying thread throughout all proposed REL Central activities.
