School Completion and Engagement Research Alliance

The School Completion and Engagement Research Alliance is focused on data-driven approaches to help SEAs, LEAs, charter schools, and institutions of higher education address the dual goals of reducing dropout and increasing on-time graduation rates among students. The RA provides a wide range of technical assistance to alliance partners to ensure that students, particularly those at risk of dropping out, are college and career ready.

Research Questions:

  • How can we ensure support for dropout prevention efforts in the Mid-Atlantic region that span the continuum of dropout prevention strategies, including the development of early warning systems, needs assessments, interventions, dropout recovery services, support for increasing graduation rates, and support for improving college completion rates?
  • How must dropout prevention strategies be tailored to ensure their effectiveness for specific populations, including migrant students; lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students; transient students; African-American students; and Latino/Latina students?
  • How can the use of technology (e.g., cyber-schools, early warning systems) enhance dropout prevention efforts?
  • How can dropout prevention efforts be most efficiently and effectively allocated through tiered intervention strategies?
