Teacher Effectiveness Research Alliance, REL Mid-Atlantic

TERA is a group of SEAs, LEAs, and other stakeholders focused on issues relating to evaluating teachers. The aim is to use data-driven approaches to help alliance partners improve the quality of their teacher evaluations, using multiple high-quality measures.

Research Questions:

  • How are states and districts using growth models incorporating alternative assessments into their methods for teacher evaluation?
  • What evidence exists for best practices in using alternative assessments in growth models for teacher evaluation?
  • How are teacher ratings from growth models related to teacher ratings from classroom observations?
  • What evidence exists for best practices in combining multiple measures into a teacher evaluation system?
  • Which existing teacher evaluation instruments are most effective?
  • What are the best practices for states and districts to incorporate longitudinal data systems into their decision-making?
