Steve Nelson
Dr. Steve R. Nelson, Administrative Director of Education Northwest's Office of Program Planning and Coordination, directs the REL Northwest contract. Dr. Nelson provides organizational leadership as a member of the corporation's cabinet and as liaison to the Board of Director's external relations committee; he has previously chaired the network of directors of the ten Regional Educational Laboratories. Since joining Education Northwest in 1973, Dr. Nelson has supported the company's efforts in various roles, including providing high quality third-party evaluation services, conducting research and development for improving educational outcomes in rural and Native American communities, and carrying out planning and quality assurance activities. Prior to joining Education Northwest, he was a research associate for the National Center for Leadership in Vocational Education. He holds both a master's degree and doctorate in educational research from The Ohio State University, as well as a bachelor's degree in sociology from Western Washington University.
