What Works Clearinghouse

What is the purpose of the WWC Handbook? The WWC Handbook provides a detailed description of the standards and procedures of the WWC. Version 2.1 of the Handbook contains the standards currently in use by the WWC for reviewing studies.

Why are there multiple versions of the Handbook in the dropdown menu? As the WWC continues to refine processes, develop new standards, and create new products, the WWC Handbook is revised to reflect these changes. Substantive updates in Version 3.0 include descriptions of practice guides and single study reviews, along with more detail on the specific procedures and standards used by the WWC. As the WWC continues to refine processes, develop new standards, respond to methodological advances in the field, and create new products, the WWC Handbook is revised to reflect these changes.

What does it mean that Version 3.0 is available for comment? Version 3.0 of the Handbook is the most recent update, and is available for comment by the public. Readers who want to provide feedback on the Handbook or the WWC more generally may contact the WWC Help Desk at http://ies.ed.gov/ncee/wwc/contactus.aspx. Comments on the updated Handbook will be accepted through April 2013, with anticipated final publication and standards adoption in June 2013.
