The National Center for Special Education Research (NCSER), sponsors a comprehensive program of special education research designed to expand the knowledge and understanding of infants, toddlers and children with disabilities.
NCSER Funds Early-Career Investigators
The National Center for Special Education Research within the Institute of Education Sciences supports research on a variety of topics, and researchers in the initial stages of their research careers have been successful in gaining grant awards. For example, Erik Carter of the University of Wisconsin, Madison, received his Ph.D. in Special Education from Vanderbilt University in 2004 and was awarded a grant under the Secondary and Transition Outcomes topic in 2006. Other examples of research grants awarded to researchers in the initial stages of their careers include:
Gregory Benner of the University of Washington, Tacoma, received his Ph.D. in Special Education from the University of Nebraska in 2003 and a grant under the Serious Behavior Disorders topic in 2007;
