REL Director

Amy Feygin, PhD, a principal researcher at the American Institutes for Research, serves as the director of Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Midwest. In this role, she maintains connections with critical policymakers and education stakeholders in the region’s seven states. For the past 10 years, she has been a leader in the REL program, serving as the applied research task lead for REL Midwest and REL Southwest; deputy director of REL Southwest; and director of REL Southwest. She has led large-scale research studies that use experimental, quasi-experimental, correlational, and qualitative research methods. As a researcher, she prioritizes collaborating with practitioners to support their use of evidence through conducting training and coaching to facilitate interpretation and application of research findings to problems of practice, presenting at practitioner-oriented conferences, and publishing findings in accessible formats to support access to evidence. She is the author or co-author of numerous peer-reviewed research reports and has led training and coaching projects that support education practitioners using research evidence. Dr. Feygin holds a doctorate in social service administration from the University of Chicago, where she was an Institute of Education Sciences predoctoral fellow. She is certified in the What Works Clearinghouse Group Design Standards and Single Case Design Standards, Version 5.0.
