IES and its national education centers commissioned the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) to conduct a review of our research centers, NCES, and NAEP.

The IES Learning Acceleration Challenges took place from August 2022 to August 2023. The challenges were intended to identify and test interventions to improve math and science achievement.

Signed into law on March 11, 2021, the American Rescue Plan (ARP) provides $100 million to IES to support research to address learning loss caused by the COVID-19 pandemic among all learners, including those with or at risk for disabilities, those experiencing homelessness, and children and youth in foster care.

The Institute of Education Sciences is celebrating 20 years.
