Attendance Matters! A Collaborative Effort to Address Chronic Absenteeism in Kentucky
This blog post highlights how the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is partnering with REL Appalachia staff to deliver training and coaching that strengthen district and school leaders’ capacity to improve student attendance and engagement. This partnership complements KDE’s existing efforts to reduce chronic absenteeism through its Attendance Matters! Campaign, research-based strategies, and robust data tools.

Regional Educational Lab (REL) Appalachia partners with key stakeholders in Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia to develop evidence that can inform consequential decisions about policy, programs, and practice. Key stakeholders include organizations with decision-making authority and the ability to influence education policy and practice, such as state and local education agencies, school boards, institutes of higher education, and student, family, and community organizations.
