Beyond K12: Supporting Iowa Students into College and Career

Designed to enhance and disseminate information from Iowa’s Statewide Longitudinal Data System (SLDS), this proposal will be submitted under the College and Career priority area with the three main focus areas: 1) better understanding the factors associated with students’ postsecondary and workforce decisionmaking and improving students’ experiences; 2) studying Iowa’s teaching workforce, and 3) building a sustainable, modern, well-planned system that can support Iowa’s SLDS long-term.

Iowa’s Unified Longitudinal Data System Infrastructure

The Iowa Department of Education (IDE) recognizes the need and the importance of a comprehensive, accurate, and timely statewide longitudinal data system. IDE is planning to implement key projects to: 1) generate a unified infrastructure for educational data; 2) establish interconnectivity between entities for analysis and planning; and 3) develop a PK-20 system for tracking individuals throughout their education.
