Designed to enhance and disseminate information from Iowa’s Statewide Longitudinal Data System (SLDS), this proposal will be submitted under the College and Career priority area with the three main focus areas: 1) better understanding the factors associated with students’ postsecondary and workforce decisionmaking and improving students’ experiences; 2) studying Iowa’s teaching workforce, and 3) building a sustainable, modern, well-planned system that can support Iowa’s SLDS long-term.

On behalf of the State of Iowa, the Iowa Department of Education (IDE) is requesting $3.24 million over a four-year period for the project, "Future Ready Iowa: Closing Equity and Opportunity Gaps."

The purpose of this project is to evaluate a professional development program centered on internal coaching (i.e., peer coaching) on the use of Family Guided Routines Based Intervention (FGRBI) by early intervention providers. The first priority in the March 2010 “Blueprint for Reform: The Reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act” from Secretary Duncan and the Obama administration includes college and career ready students as a critical to keeping the United States competitive.

The Iowa Department of Education (IDE) recognizes the need and the importance of a comprehensive, accurate, and timely statewide longitudinal data system. IDE is planning to implement key projects to: 1) generate a unified infrastructure for educational data; 2) establish interconnectivity between entities for analysis and planning; and 3) develop a PK-20 system for tracking individuals throughout their education.
