The Meta-Analysis Training Institute will provide researchers with the tools they need to conduct large-scale research syntheses and meta-analyses (50 or more studies) aimed at examining effect size heterogeneity and aligned with SEER principles. The program will recruit participants who conduct education research in academic institutions or other settings who aim to develop and submit an IES Exploration grant proposal to carry out a meta-analysis.

The program will train 30 participants in 1-week workshops held annually (90 participants total). Training will cover multiple topics relevant to building, interpreting, and analyzing meta-analysis datasets and models through a combination of lectures, hands-on lab activities, and group project work. During the group work, participants will reanalyze data from a published meta-analysis and present their work at the conclusion of the workshop. The training team also will develop a fully open-access website to host materials from the training for both participants and non-participants looking to extend their meta-analysis skills.
