Description:

Goal: Using a forum series to help provide a critical information link between rigorous research and the Washington DC-based policymaking community.

Purpose: This project will conduct activities that provide a critical link between the emerging scientific evidence base in education and those who most need it to design or administer policies that improve education.

Project Activities: Project activities are designed to promote the use of scientific evidence in education policymaking across the nation. The project's objectives will be achieved through four coordinated activities. First, a series of six policy forums have been planned to highlight and discuss the policy relevance of key scientific findings in education. Second, the forums are accompanied by and summarized through a publication series that will outline the policy relevance of the evidence presented and link it to additional resources. Third, a website provides broad-scale access to the information presented during the forum series and serves as "scientific evidence portal" to support policymaker efforts to apply rigorous evidence. Finally, the project will include an evaluation component to gain further insight on the design and implementation of effective activities to promote evidence-based education policymaking.
