IES and its national education centers commissioned the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) to conduct a review of our research centers, NCES, and NAEP. The reports that resulted from these reviews are described below.

A Pragmatic Future for NAEP: Containing Costs and Updating Technologies

NASEM's report on NAEP discusses strategies to manage the cost of NAEP while maintaining its status as the gold standard in educational testing.

NASEM's report on NCER and NCSER provides insight on critical areas where new research is needed in the education sciences and highlights new methods and training opportunities to support that research.
