Best Practices in Being a Writer Summer Institute

About this event

Time: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm PDT (each day)

Description: A sustained partnership between REL West and staff from the Center for the Collaborative Classroom, Washoe County School District (WCSD), and a small set of schools in WCSD, will help the educators institutionalize support for teacher development in writing instruction, strengthen the connections between what happens in teacher PLC meetings and what happens in the classroom. This summer institute kicks off the project with training in the Collaborative Classroom Being a Writer curriculum and foundational knowledge regarding the improvement science inquiry model they will use during the school year.

Partnership or Research Alliance: Literacy Improvement Partnership

Audience: The primary audience for this training will be the four district literacy coaches, other district staff, site administration from two WCSD pilot schools, as well as K-6 teachers from each school. In total, there will be approximately 60 participants.
