Description: The purpose of this presentation is to share findings from the Effectiveness of Early Literacy Instruction: Summary of 20 Years of Research report. The report uses a process modeled after the What Works Clearinghouse review standards and procedures to identify rigorous evidence from research conducted 1997 to 2017 on the effectiveness of early childhood curricula, lesson packages, instructional practices, and technology programs that aim to improve preschool students' language, phonological awareness, print knowledge, decoding, and early writing performance. Findings from the presented study have implications for standards and instruction and therefore directly align with goals of the Early Childhood Education Collaborative.
