About this event

Society for Research on Educational Effectiveness (SREE) Conference

8:00-9:30 a.m. Central Time

Arlington, VA

Brief email and text messages (known as nudges) sent to parents/guardians can encourage behavior leading to positive outcomes for students. However, not all nudges are effective, and features of nudges such as personalization matter. In this SREE conference session, Ashley Pierson, Ph.D., a senior researcher at the American Institutes for Research, will present the results of a REL Southwest study on the feasibility and effectiveness of using brief email and text message communications (nudges) to increase the number of parent and guardian visits to the Reading Initiative for Student Excellence (R.I.S.E.) state literacy website. The Arkansas Department of Education created the R.I.S.E. website to provide family-based literacy activities and promote reading proficiency. Learn more.
