Time: 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. CT
Description: To emphasize continuous school improvement and the use of evidence-based practices, the Nebraska Department of Education developed an approach to accountability: Accountability for a Quality Education System, Today and Tomorrow (AQuESTT). As part of the AQuESTT school classification process, district superintendents and school principals report on accountability indicators using the Evidence-Based Analysis tool. The meeting will focus on describing the evidence review process and results pertaining to REL Central's search and review of studies on balanced assessments and student engagement - two indicators in Nebraska Department of Education's Evidence-Based Analysis tool. The meeting will also include a demonstration of a REL Central-created database that provides a step-by-step process which Nebraska Department of Education partners can use for identifying research and evidence in support of other Evidence-Based Analysis tool indicators.
Partnership or Research Alliance: The Nebraska School Improvement Research Partnership assembles a group of Nebraska stakeholders whose objectives include identifying evidence-based practices for school improvement, determining strategies for implementing such practices, and exploring ways education agencies can sustain and scale up programs for schools in need of improvement.
Audience: The intended audience for this event includes Nebraska Department of Education staff who collect and use evidence in support of the AQuESTT state accountability system. Event participants will include department leaders and representatives from the assessment and research team.
