How Leaders Can Support Implementation of English Language Development

Description: The purpose of the event is to provide an opportunity for administrators to explore their role as leaders in supporting implementation of English Language Development (ELD) as a comprehensive system in their schools and districts. This event will provide an opportunity for participants to hear from leadership experts and New Mexico district leaders about the leadership practices and foundational supports that administrators should have in place for schools to foster effective implementation of ELD.

Participants will:

  • Learn about effective district and school leadership practices and how these practices can support English learner students and ELD.
  • Learn how New Mexico districts are addressing ELD as a comprehensive system that incorporates both integrated lessons and designated lessons.
  • Consider insights, ideas, and implications for administrators in developing structures and policies that can support effective ELD for English learner students in classrooms across New Mexico.

Audience: This event is designed for K-12 administrators, including district administrators, directors, superintendents, principals, site administrators, and New Mexico Public Education Department leaders and staff. Additionally, state and local board members and university staff may attend.
