Schools of the Future Conference
Performance assessments are powerful tools that allow teachers to gauge what students have learned and how they apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios. By aligning performance assessments with curriculum, instruction, and students' lived experiences, the assessment can become a relevant and meaningful process for students. Participants will explore strategies for designing and implementing culturally responsive performance assessments as part of two professional learning initiatives led by the Hawaiʻi Department of Education's Assessment Section and REL Pacific. Participants will discuss navigating challenges and leveraging successes of performance assessments for student learning.
