About this event

Time: 1:40-2:30 p.m. CT

Description: Regional Educational Laboratory Central (REL Central) will provide an overview of the collaborative work between the REL Central, North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (ND DPI), Bismarck Public Schools, and Technology & Innovation in Education to design and conduct a culturally responsive evaluation plan for the pilot implementation of the North Dakota Native American Essential Understandings (NDNAEU). The evaluation design process includes several steps: 1) developing a logic model and corresponding evaluation questions, 2) identifying pertinent data to answer the evaluation questions, 3) creating new data collection instruments, 4) constructing a data collection and analysis timeline, and 5) interpreting and using data for implementation improvements. Results from the pilot will be used to improve implementation in pilot schools and to inform guidance for other districts that implement the NDNAEU in their schools. REL Central will share results from data collected by ND DPI as well as lessons learned throughout the evaluation design process. School-, district, and state-level staff who want to examine initiatives for Native American students will find value in attending this session. Participants will increase their knowledge of how to design a culturally responsive evaluation plan for their education initiatives.

Audience: Educators at school, district, and state levels

Speakers: Steven Tedeschi and Shelby Hubach at REL Central
