Description: This session will provide participants an overview of the recommendations from the following Institute of Education Sciences and REL Southeast literacy tools: Foundational Skills to Support Reading for Understanding in Kindergarten through 3rd Grade, Professional learning communities facilitator's guide for the What Works Clearinghouse practice guide: Foundational skills to support reading for understanding in kindergarten through 3rd grade, School Leader's Literacy Walkthrough: Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third Grades, Rubric for Evaluating Reading/Language Arts Instructional Materials for Kindergarten to Grade 5, Summer Reading Camp Self-Study Guide, and Self-study Guide for Implementing Early Literacy Interventions. Presenters will highlight activities that may be used through instructional coaching to implement the recommendations in reading instruction, intervention, and summer reading camp settings.
