About this event

This Central Valley convening, hosted by the California School-Based Health Alliance, Regional Educational Laboratory West (REL West) at WestEd, and Kaiser Permanente, invited Central Valley health, mental health, and education practitioners to explore collaborative approaches for supporting and strengthening student resilience. The event included a keynote presentation on how to build individual and community resilience and an interactive closing activity that addressed how adults can foster supportive and caring relationships in classrooms and when working with kids individually.

Attendees:

  • Gained insights into the impacts of trauma on children ages 0-18 and how resilience-building practices can support trauma-impacted youth;
  • Learned about ways to address trauma using cross-sector approaches that include schools, healthcare providers, families, community members, and students themselves; and
  • Left with ideas to implement locally to build individual and community resilience.

The event was the second annual convening in response to feedback generated through the Central Valley Rural Education and Health Alliance on topics of interest for supporting students and families in California's Central Valley.

AUDIENCE

Education and healthcare practitioners, including student support services staff, school mental health services providers, school and School-Based Health Center (SBHC) nurses, and school staff in California's Central Valley.
