About this event

The goal of Northwest Tribal Educators Alliance is to use culturally relevant data and evidence to promote academic and community success for Native Students. Educational policies have disrupted traditional Indigenous knowledge through erasure and assimilation. When Indigenous knowledge is woven intentionally into education programs, it benefits more than just Native students. Culturally sustaining pedagogy results in more involved and active students in academics.

Goal: Participants will learn evidence-based strategies, review aligned resources, and discuss ways to support American Indian and Alaska Native (AIAN) migratory students.

Objectives:

  1. Participants will understand the unique needs of AIAN migratory students and the importance of supporting and honoring their cultural practices.
  2. Participants will review evidence-based practices and resources available to support AIAN migratory students and families.
  3. Participants will discuss how to implement evidence-based practices to support AIAN migratory students.
