Description: This in-person event, co-hosted by REL Midwest and the Michigan Department of Education, focuses on aligning expectations for new teachers between K-12 and educator preparation institutions. The event covers existing research on new teacher competencies, information about high-leverage practices, and examples from educator preparation institutions and K-12 schools and districts in Michigan working together to prepare novice teachers for success. The event concludes with audience members taking part in facilitated table discussions around strategies to achieve shared expectations for new teachers at the state, K-12, and higher education levels.
