Location: Society for Research on Educational Effectiveness (SREE) Conference 2022, Arlington, VA
Description: From 2017 to 2021, the Regional Education Laboratory (REL) Midwest convened an alliance to bring together practitioners, policymakers, advocates, and researchers to increase the region's capacity to access, conduct, and interpret research on increasing educational outcomes among Black students. In Wisconsin, REL Midwest focused on addressing Black teacher retention. This session will focus on the progress made in Racine Unified School District to leverage research and implement policies and practices aimed at increasing the diversity of the teaching workforce. The presenters will also share insights on convening a regional research-practice partnership rooted in equity, translating research to practice through targeted technical assistance, and mobilizing multiple engagement strategies, including blogs, webinars, and videos, to increase the reach and utility of research.
Speakers:
- Jameela Conway-Turner, PhD, Senior Researcher, REL Midwest
