2018 NAEP Technology and Engineering Literacy Assessment at Grade 8 Report Card (NCES 2019-068)

Approximately 15,400 eighth-graders from about 600 schools across the nation participated in the 2018 NAEP Technology and Engineering Literacy (TEL). TEL measures three interconnected content areas—Technology and Society, Design and Systems, and Information and Communication Technology—and three practices that cut across the content areas—Understanding Technological Principles, Developing Solutions and Achieving Goals, and Communicating and Collaborating.

Participants demonstrated their skills by solving interactive, scenario-based tasks in addition to short-answer and multiple-choice questions.
