This Data Point report shows the percentage of undergraduate students who received a Pell Grant in 4 academic years, 1999–2000, 2003–04, 2007–08, and 2011–12, by dependency status. The report also presents the median family income in each of these years for dependent and independent Pell Grant recipients. The data come from four iterations of the National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS), a large, nationally representative sample survey of students that focuses on how students finance their education.
