This Data Point uses data from a longitudinal study of postsecondary students to look at the employment outcomes of students who earned a credential in an occupational versus academic field. Compared to students who earned an academic credential, a higher proportion of (former) students who earned an occupational credential were employed six years after entering school and, among those who were employed, a higher proportion of those who earned an occupational credential were employed in a job related to their field of study.
