About this event

The National Center for Education Statistics collects data on crime, violence, and safety in U.S. public schools through the School Survey on Crime and Safety (SSOCS). This Data Point report uses data from the 2003–04 through 2017–18 SSOCS to estimate the percentage of U.S. public elementary and secondary schools allowed to remove students from school for at least the remainder of the school year as a disciplinary action and the percentage of schools that used this action, both overall and by schools' percentage of minority enrollment.
