About this event

PIAAC, also known as the Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies, assesses a broad range of adults' knowledge and skills including literacy, numeracy, and digital problem solving. The survey of the U.S. incarcerated adults is part of the PIAAC National Supplement conducted in 2014. Incarcerated adults were tested using the same assessments as those used for the national administration of PIAAC in households in 2012 and 2014. The survey was conducted from February through June 2014, and targeted a nationally representative sample of about 1,300 incarcerated adults, age 18 to 74. In additional to providing the findings of the incarcerated adults' cognitive skills, the report also provides results on inmates work experience, employment status, as well as education and training programs available in prison.
