Literacy in Everyday Life: Results from the 2003 National Assessment of Adult Literacy (NCES 2007-480)

The 2003 National Assessment of Adult Literacy (NAAL), the first national survey of adult literacy since the 1992 National Adult Literacy Survey, measured prose, document, and quantitative literacy. This report describes how adults use written information in workplace, family, and community settings, as well as the relationship between literacy and formal education.
