In this study, US state proficiency standards for reading and mathematics performance of 4th- and 8th-grade students were mapped onto the scale of the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). This report, available as a PDF on the NAEP website, highlights differences among the proficiency standards used by various states.
