The Nation's Report Card: Civics 2010 (NCES 2011-466)

National samples of 7,100 fourth-graders, 9,600 eighth-graders, and 9,900 twelfth-graders participated in the 2010 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) in civics. Students responded to questions designed to measure their understanding of civic knowledge, intellectual and participatory skills, and civic dispositions. Performance results are presented in the form of NAEP scale scores and percentages of students at the Basic, Proficient, and Advanced achievement levels. The report also includes performance of subgroups and gap comparisons by gender and race/ethnicity.
