About this event
For the first time, the complete findings will be featured online at the new interactive Nation's Report Card. Highlights of the findings also will be available online and in print. Nationally representative samples of over 186,500 fourth-graders and 170,100 eighth-graders participated in the 2013 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) in mathematics and reading. Results are reported for private and public school students in the nation and for public school students in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the Department of Defense school system.
Students who took the mathematics assessment responded to questions designed to measure their understanding of mathematics in the areas of: number properties and operations, measurement, geometry, algebra, data analysis, statistics, and probability. Students who took the reading assessment responded to questions designed to measure their reading comprehension across two types of texts: literary and informational.
