About this event
National samples of more than 7,000 fourth-graders, 9,500 eighth-graders, and 10,000 twelfth-graders participated in the 2010 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) in geography. Students responded to questions designed to measure their understanding of geography in the areas of space & place, environment & society, and special dynamics & connections. Performance results are presented in the form of NAEP scale scores and percentages of students at the Basic, Proficient, and Advanced achievement levels. The report also includes information about the performance of different student groups and gap comparisons by gender and race/ethnicity. Comparisons are made between 2010 results and those from previous assessments in 1994 and 2001.
