Nation's Report Card: Trends in Academic Progress (NCES 2013-456)

For nearly 40 years, NAEP's LTT assessments have tracked students' progress in reading and mathematics at ages 9, 13 and 17. In 2012, NAEP administered the LTT assessment to almost 18,000 students in each age group across the nation.
