About this event
Representative samples of students ranging from approximately 900 to 2,400 in the fourth and eighth grades in 18 urban districts participated in the 2009 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) in reading. The results in the report are presented in the form of average scale scores, achievement levels (Basic, Proficient, and Advanced), and scale scores. Comparisons of the districts' results are made to those for public school students in the nation (national public) and in cities with populations of 250,000 or more (large city). Each urban district also has a profile for 4th and 8th grade performance which provides: a comparison of the urban district to the parent state and to the nation, the location of the urban district score on the national (public) score distribution (percentile) and available scores for racial subgroup performance.
