On December 2, 2020, the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) convened a technical working group (TWG) to discuss strategies for increasing diversity among IES-funded education researchers and grantee institutions. This TWG is part of IES leadership's ongoing commitment to broadening participation within IES grant programs and the education sciences. The goal of this TWG meeting was to advise IES's National Center for Education Research (NCER) and National Center for Special Education Research (NCSER) on strategies to increase the diversity and representation of the researchers and institutions funded by IES. The meeting focused on four topics: 1) reducing barriers to participation in IES research, 2) expanding outreach, 3) increasing outreach, and 4) increasing research capacity.
