Description: This webinar will define and discuss collective trauma and provide educators with promising research-based strategies to support student and staff social-emotional well-being in schools. Join REL Southwest for a free webinar on collective trauma in the current contexts of COVID-19 and social injustice. In this interactive webinar, Wehmah Jones, PhD, senior researcher for the American Institutes for Research (AIR), and Tammie M. Causey-Konate, PhD, senior technical assistance consultant for AIR, will discuss collective trauma and how it may affect staff and students. Afterward, participants will join one of two breakout sessions: one to explore a four-step model for working through collective trauma, particularly racial trauma, presented by Dr. Causey-Konate and Robyn Madison Harris, EdD, partnership facilitator, REL Southwest, or another to learn how integrating trauma-sensitive strategies and social-emotional learning (SEL) can support a holistic approach to meeting student and staff needs presented by Kathleen Guarino, senior technical assistance consultant for AIR, and Dr. Jones.
