In this session hosted by the U.S. Department of Education, staff from REL Appalachia shared the Community Math Nights Facilitators' Toolkit, a comprehensive resource that state and local leaders can use and adapt to promote family engagement in mathematics. This toolkit includes everything needed to conduct an elementary school Community Math Night - a research-based, interactive event designed to connect educators, students, and families in engaging math activities that build positive math attitudes. It includes planning and organizational resources, step-by-step instructions and printable materials for interactive math activities, family-facing materials in English and Spanish, and a professional learning workbook for educators, with research on effective math instruction and suggestions for applying the research in practice. After the toolkit components, REL Appalachia staff facilitated a discussion of how state and local leaders can utilize the toolkit, in whole or in part, to meet specific state and local needs.
