On February 14, 2024, REL West met with partners at Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) for a workshop session as part of the partnership titled "Coaching to Improve Math Instruction for Multilingual English Learners in Santa Clara County". During this session, participants reviewed the relevant What Works Clearinghouse practice guides for supporting multilingual learners with evidence-based mathematics instruction; learned about the MELD approach to supporting English language development while students learn mathematics; and practiced using one of the evidence-based practices from the MELD approach, the glossary routine, with existing mathematics instructional materials.
