On April 22, 2024, REL West will meet with partners at Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) for a workshop session, part of the partnership titled "Coaching to Improve Math Instruction for Multilingual English Learners in Santa Clara County". During workshop session 2, participants will practice articulating big mathematical ideas within lessons and creating scaffolded writing opportunities for multilingual learners to summarize those ideas; and examine opportunities for peer-to-peer mathematical discourse in their mathematics instructional materials and consider how to use sentence frames to support multilingual learners to participate in those opportunities.
