About this event

Time: 12:30-2:00 p.m. Central Time

Location: Virtual

REL Southwest is partnering with staff from the College, Career, and Military Preparation Division at the Texas Education Agency (TEA) who are working to ensure that all Texas high school students have access to high-quality career and education pathways. This coaching project builds on a related Ask An Expert presentation with Scott Solberg that summarized resources that support effective or promising student advising practices.

TEA is currently piloting its Effective Advising Framework (EAF). REL Southwest is coaching TEA partners to deepen their knowledge of rubric development and guide their efforts in creating a rubric to assess dimensions of quality for advising materials, tools, and resources. In this session, REL Southwest facilitators and TEA partners reviewed the rubric development process and, to guide their work, discussed the purpose and use of the rubric for high-quality advising materials, tools, and resources. In addition, partners continued to refine the rubric and learn about pretesting for interrater reliability.

Facilitator:

  • Holly Williams, Senior Researcher, REL Southwest
  • Jill Walston, Principal Psychometrician/Statistician, REL Southwest

Partnership Affiliation: This event was hosted by the Texas Education Agency Tri-Agency Workforce Priorities partnership.
