About this event
The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), Institute of Education Sciences, U.S. Department of Education, will sponsor a 3-day advanced studies seminar on the use of the Early Childhood LongitudinalStudy, Birth Cohort (ECLS-B) database. ECLS-B is designed to support research on a wide range of topics pertaining to young children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development and their health status across multiple contexts (e.g., home and child care).
Specifically, the seminar will include the following topics and activities:

- an overview of ECLS-B design, instruments, and database;
- discussion of the methodological and technical issues relevant to ECLS-B data use;
- instruction and practice with ECLS-B 9-month and 2-year data; and
- hands-on experience in conducting analyses of ECLS-B data using statistical software such as SAS, SPSS, Stata, AM and the data analysis system (DAS) available on the NCES website.
