Grover J. (Russ) Whitehurst, Director, Institute of Education Sciences, U.S. Department of Education will speak at Florida State University's Interdisciplinary Research Training Program (PIRT), which is in the university's Florida Center for Reading Research. He also will meet with the PIRT fellows and with other students, faculty and staff to discuss experiences and ideas concerning research in the education sciences.
In one of its most successful endeavors, IES underwrites predoctoral and postdoctoral training programs in the education sciences. The programs so far have trained 158 researchers at 10 universities.
